Additional Events 2011
Day of the Protection of Minors
Digitization and the updating of the corresponding new media (technologies) develop at an ever faster pace. Today’s children and young people therefore grow up in an environment of far-reaching social changes.
The individual needs of developing an independent personality, but also the opportunities of self-fulfilment, have risen enormously. Against the background of this development, the challenges of a modern child and youth protection have become more varied and complex, not only in the field of media protection/education. So it has not been without reason that the regional youth service planning has placed great emphasis on this topic, based on the third Saxon youth report.
Current youth services see promotion and protection as two sides of the same task. This also applies to prevention: where should limits be set and also be enforced in a confrontational teaching style - where should participatory self-determination and personal responsibility be developed and promoted? There are concrete demands for the practice of (social) education in many different fields of work, such as training, regulatory and educational concepts, and everyday practice, both in the area of educational support and in the fields of youth work.
The Saxon Youth Protection Day 2011 will try to reunite both sides of the task, youth media protection and media education shall no longer be separated from each other, they must be understood as a complementary unit.
